LEX is an entry to Urban Splash’s master planning competition in Walsall. The proposal is shaped by a new diagonal route across the site that leads to a town square. LEX Theatre acts as a counterpoint to the existing art gallery to the east, and signals the civic importance of the canal quarter. The Barge at the southern point of the site is the residential segment perched up on top of three café and bar pods. The hotel juxtaposes the theatre, whilst complimenting the uses on offer. It defines the green canal side and terminates long views from Walsall art gallery.
