The design proposes to extend the existing boathouse with a new wing to form a protected courtyard. The historic stone boat house is refurbished to provide bedrooms whilst the extension accommodates an open plan living space with panoramic views of the loch. The extension is sunk into the hill side, whilst a hidden corridor links back to the main boathouse. External steps between the wings retain an important link from the boat house to the church ruins at the top of the bank.
