Our proposal for a temporary intervention to 122 Leadenhall, the future site of Richard Rodger’s Cheese Grater tower, sought to soften the raw feel of the 10m deep concrete basement structure with 200 trees in grow bags, installed to create a surreal sunken woodland at the heart of the city. A spiralling walkway route through the upper canopy of the trees flows to a performance space hidden in a wooded glade. Over the walkway a mirrored tension fabric reflects the city and landscape to form a rich juxtaposition.
