Artemide Lighting Design Charette

Represented by Patrick Michell and Stephen Hogan, Platform 5 Architects today participated in the NLA’s Don’t Move, Improve! design charette for Artemide Lighting.

The day kicked off with a breakfast talk at NLA’s home at the Building Centre where all winners of the Don’t Move, Improve 2013 Awards were invited to speak about their winning projects. In front of a diverse audience, Patrick presented Shoffice, joint winner of the Small Office Award alongside Hut with their Pentonville Road office.

Also in attendance were Alma-nac with the Slim House, winner of the Home Extension Award and FORM design architecture with Bermondsey Warehouse Loft, winner of the Home Interior Design Award.

The charette workshop began with a site visit to the Artemide lighting studio on Great Russell Street. Artemide Lighting are keen to transform their three storey property in Camden – improving their current surroundings rather than moving on to a new site.

All practices were then invited to get back to basics with A3 pads and pens and sketch out some designs for the space. These ideas were then presented to an expert panel for scrutiny and questions.

Platform 5, impressed with the space Artemide have to develop, produced innovative designs including a deep basement event space extending into the garden.
